Le mauvais calcul de XLD

Voila les des sont jetees, finalement Xavier Luc Duval et le PMSD ont tranche, ils quittent la barque de l’alliance le pep qui prend l’eau de tout part, pour etre dans l’opposition. A entendre XLD , le nouveau leader de l’opposition, il a quitte le gouvernement sur une question de principle cad contre la mise en place d’une Prosecution Commission qui est anti-constitutionel en reduisant les pouvoirs et l’independence du DPP. Est ce vraiement cette Prosecution Commission qui a ete la pomme de discorde ?? Les mauriciens ne sont pas des cons qui acceptent et avalent tout ce que racontent les politiciens. La premiere personne a feliciter XLD pour son soit-diant “courage” de quitter le gouvernement a ete sans surprise Navin Ramgoolam. Ce dernier s’est senti soulager et doit une fiere chandele a XLD, a qui il a promis le poste de Preminer Ministre dans une alliance Ptr/PMSD, car so licou ti lors biyo. Si le DPP a raye  11 des charges contre Navin Ramgoolam, la Prosecution Commission allait revisiter tous ses cas. D’autre part il parait tres etrange que les accusations contre Navin ont ete rayees une par une; n’est ce pa un peu bizarre quand on connait maintenant qui est vraiment Navin Ramgoolam et comment il a dirige l’ile Maurice pendant plus de 10ans: dans la corruption et le nepotisme ?? Est-ce vraiment possible que la police, le CCID, ont mal mene toutes ses enquetes contre Navin Ramgoolam?? Si c’est pas drole, cela a rendu tout le monde perplexe.

En bloquant la Prosecution Commission, XLD a surtout sauve son ami d’hier et de demain, Navin, de la prison et ainsi etre sure que Navin sera “propre” pour la prochaine campagne. C’est ca le vrai enjeu. Mais d’autre part, le depart du PMSD n’a rien change; le MSM et son allier le ML ont a majorite et peut gouverner en toute serenite. Et si le gouvernement veut vraiment  ammender la constitution et instaurer cette fameuse Prosecution Commission, il y a tant de “roudeurs boutes” qui font la queue pour entrer au gouvernmenet. Il y a une tradition de transfuge a Maurice depuis SSR et cette tradition continue de plus belle. Si ce n’est pour un marocain ministerielle  c’est pour quelques millions de roupies. Devant cett eventualite le PMSD est devenu le dindon de la farce. Ils doivent maintenant etre dans l’opposition pour encore trois ans. Pire il y a deja des defections au sein du PMSD et l’emoragie risque de continuer jusqu’au prochaines elections.  Et si c'est vrai qu'il y a deja une alliance entre le PMSD et le PT, et que Navin a promis a XLD le poste de PM, XLD se souvienne ce qui est arrive a son pere qui attendait sur le peon toute la nuit. Toi XLD tu vas attendre avec une bougie rouge le poste de PM promis par Navin.

Vennons maintenant au cher Navin Ramgoolam, l’homme aux millions. Est ce que les mauriciens veulent  vraiement le retour de ce “payboy” comme PM de l’ile Maurice ? Est- ce que les mauriciens veulent le retour de Soornack et ses valises a l’aeroport? Est-ce que les mauriciens vont avaler leurs crachats ? Il n’y a que XLD qui croit en cela car un sondage realise par L’express recement donne le MSM comme le plus grand parti a Maurice, et cela a un moment ou le gouvernement est egale a “pourriture”.

Suite a ma chronique anlytique sur les annees sombres qu’a connue Rodrigues dans la periode ou le FPR (sous le couvert de MR) etait au pouvoir, le leader minimo, en  perte de vitesse au point d’aller mendier, comme un petit toutou, une alliance avec le MR, crache son venin.

Pour ce qui  des palabres pour Mr 10% sont des verites pour  90% des electeurs qui l’ont sanctione au cours des dernieres elections en l’envoyant dans Koro kann sorry Karro lacacia.  Faut egalement rendre homage a la verite que pendant ces annees la Rodrigues a connu des politiciens de bas etages ou l’interet personel passait avant tout. Dans son dernier message Nicholas Vonmally parlait des politiciens qui ne pensent qu’a leurs interets personels et avancait que seulement 5% de politiciens sont honetes et sinceres, on se demande bien qui en particuier il faisait allusion ? Facile a deviner !!

 En ce qui concerne les transferts punitifs, la liste est longue. Mr Pierre Louis nous dira certainement d’ou sont venus les ordres ou si vouloir employe 256 labourers sans passer par la PSC etait normale  !!!!

D'autre part la facon dont les terrains de Rodrigues etaitent "distribues "durant cette periode pose beuacoup de questions. Certains dissent qu'ils ont du payer cherement pour un bail auquel ils avait droit ou pas. Toujours au niveau des plabres , on parle egalement des millions de roupies qui ont change de main  durant cette periode, d'un coffre fort de Rs32 millions ou encore des valises vennant de Mauricie remplies de billets.                                                                                                      Une question qui merite d’etre posee: si ce cher Monsieur a ete un commissaire exemplaire comme il le pretent, pourquoi donc il a ete deboulone, voire demande de lev pake aller pour etre remplace par Gaetan Jabimissar. C’est sure que les bornes etaient depasees ou point ou cela devenait pas non seulement intolerable, mais embarassante vis a vis de Maurice et du monde.                                    

Au cours d’une session, j’ai personellement assiste a une scene des plus audieux quand un elu du peuple ne respectait pas l’etiquette de l’Auguste Assemblee, abusant d’un unparliamentary language pour ne pas dire des grossieretes, allant jusqu’a meme faire fi du ruling du speaker. On ne peut alors se demander s’il y un meilleur mot pour qualifier ce “disrespected member” que celui qui a ete utilise et si la methode utilisee par la police n’etait pas justifiee.

Finalement je ne suis ni un rodeur boute, encore moins un mercenaire car je n’ai rien demande a qui que ce soit. Mais ayant contribue, dans le passe, a eveiller une conscience Rodriguiase, j’etais venu me rendre compte de ce qu’est devenue Rodrigues apres 15 ans d’autonomie et j'en ai fait une evaluation. Si j’ai vu un development infrastructurel sans precedent, j’ai constate une degradation au niveau social et politique, concluant que l’immoralite politique, pronee par certains, a surement contribue a cet etat de choses.
La corruption a fait son entrée dans les moeurs politiques a Rodrigues et c’est un tres triste constat.

The rise of Pauline Hanson and One Nation

The latest poll shows a remarkable rise in support from voters to Pauline Hanson and her party, One Nation, since the last general elections in July 2016.

"ONE Nation’s comeback took many Australians by surprise, but the latest Newspoll survey shows support for the party has increased fourfold across the country and almost doubled in Queensland since the July 2 Federal Election. The Newspoll survey reveals support for One Nation in the lower house has risen to six per cent from 1.3 per cent on election day.
Its primary vote has bounced to 10 per cent in Queensland, up from 5.5 per cent at the election, The Australian reports on Monday. "

Many were already surprised how One Nation did so well in the last elections especially for the senate votes. One nation has now three elected senators. The party campaigned on keeping Australia safe from terrorists and the way to do it is to have a full investigation on the activites of some Muslims in Australia and a Royal commission on Islam, which according to Mrs Hanson, has no place in Australia. Islam and the Islamists, she says, are against Australian values For her, Islam is a religion of hatred and war, an ideology which has political motives rather that religious values. Pauline Hanson reinterated this in her maiden speech in parliament  where again she asked for a ban on Muslim immigration to Australia and that Muslims who cannot integrate and accept Australian laws and values should go back to where they can have their way. She also requests that any Muslim breaching the law and sentenced to more that one year jail should be deported. She also demands that the burka be banned in Australia as there is no religious obligation attached to it. Australia, she argues, is a western democracy with western values and everyone who comes to Australia should abide to the laws of the land and embraces the values.
One Nation policies regarding Muslims and Islam are not confined to Australia Only. The Front National in France has for long warned the successive governments about the dangers poised by the Islamists and the growing number of Muslims in France which is a breeding ground for terrorists.  The various attacks in France, Chalie Heddo, Bataclan, Nice etc... have proved Marine Lepen right and this is also why the Front National is growing and now polling at 35%. It is predicted that Marine Lepen will come first in the first round of the presidential elections in France next year.
We are also witnessing the rise of Anti-Muslims and anti-immigration parties in various parts of Europe. It looks like people are saying "Enough is enough of these Muslims immigration" and more and more people believe that Islam is a breeding ground for terrorists and their attacks on innocents.

Voters are turning away form mainstream political parties are essentially because they appear to soft towards the Islamists and playing politics with the Muslims. In Australia, both Labor and the Coalition sing the same song about Muslims' tolerance, that all Muslims are not bad, that most Muslims are good citizens.!!! This is not music to the ears of non Muslims.

Besides the Muslim/Islam issue there are many other issues why people are tuning their backs on traditional political parties. They are no more relevant, they are no more listening to the people, they are not putting forward policies of reforms and long term strategies, they are too short sighted and driven only by the desire to be re-elected. It is all politics without substance, politics without economic plans, politics for the sake of looking good. All talk and no action while the problem of poverty, high cost of living, unemployment are hitting hard and electoral promises not kept. The people have come to realise that there is no hope with traditional political parties which tend to look after themselves and their mates before the people.

There is a wave surging and voters are turning more to smaller and populist parties, a way to show their disillusionment towards the big parties and their lies. Pauline Hanson, Nick Xenophone, Marine Lepen and others are surging on this wave of rejection of traditional parties and by highlighting the weakness and irrelevance of the big parties. The non-traditional parties are talking the language of the ordinary people who are victims of globalisation, who are not benefiting from any economic boom and who see the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. It is a sort of revolution happening in silence and who knows could rise up tomorrow like a tsunami which will sweep the traditional right and left wing parties away.

A futile  and empty debate

Mauritian politicians consistently and deliberately take the Mauritian people for fools.When you read their comments or arguments you wonder whether they realised that there are intelligent people Mauritius and abroad who are taking them for a laughing stock.
Recently the actual Prime Minister, SAJ, declard that he will step down and his son will take over as PM. This caused such an uproar in Mauritius. A PMSD lawyer said that it is the Deputy PM who should take over. Is he trying to make a case or what ? The disgraced Navin Ramgoolam for his part declared that this is not in order and that there should be general elections, arguing that the people voted SAJ as PM during the last elections and that Pravin Jughnuth has no right to be PM. This is mere bullshit if not dillusion or madness. The same Navin Ramgoolam knows quite well that Mauritius' constitution and political system is based on the Westminster system that his own father adopted. He also knows that he became PM because he was the leader of a majority party which had relied on alliances with other minor parties. Plus ridicule que ca tu meurs dirait l'autre!!!.
What about Paul Berenger, the soit-disant consitutional expert ? He also thinks that there should be general elections but  later added that he would respect the decision of the President and it all depends on the judgement of the President!! He then talked about immorality!! Is there such thing as morality in politics, in Mauritius particularly.???
The constitutional expert does not seem to be familiar with the Westminster system where the PM is chosen by the party and not necessarily by the people.When Tony Blair stepped down, the party chose another leader Gordon Brown to be PM. When David Cameron was in alliance with the Democrates, he was PM because his party was majority. Lately when Cameron resigned, the party chose Theresa May as leader and PM. In Australia in the middle of his term, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was replaced by Julia Gillard and later re-replaced by Kevin Rudd without the need for a general elections. And Mauritius is no different. SAJ can chose to step down anytime and as it is the MSM, which is the majority party, in the alliance or not, which decides who will replace SAJ. It is as simple as that.
Now if anyone including Paul Berenger or Xavier Duval or Ivan Collendavello thinks that he can command a majority in parliament,  he can go  to the President and say so, Then this will be tested on the floor of parliament and parliament would vote for a PM. But everyone in Mauritius knows that this will never happen, XLD has already declared that he is happy as deputy PM and has no ambition of becoming PM. He also knows that if he tries a spill, he will be out of government that is why li pe ferme so la bouche. In the present circumstances, no other leader apart from Pravin Jughnuth can replace SAJ as PM. This is the fact. So depi so Navin ou Berenger or other amateur politicians should stop bullshiting and take people for fools because they are the real fools.

It is now one year since Malcolm Turnbull became Prime Minister and three months already since the general elections. To be honest, I am at pain to see what concretely Malcolm and his government has achieved since then. There has been lots of talking, then the budget speech, but no signs of reforms and  people are not better off nor have they felt any change in their day to day living. Have you ?
The results of the elections were far from brilliant for Malcolm Turnbull as his coalition lost many seats and he is now ruling with a majority of only one!!! He and his government are on a knife's edge. Malcolm Turnbull said that he would be different from Tony Abbott and that he will lead the country on new economic path. " This country needs a new economic leadership" he said. Where are that new ways, new strategies or new policies? The budget, presented by the superstar Scott Morrison, is still in limbo and not sure of passing through the senate. Lately government had to back off on their ironclad superannuation policy under pressure from their own backbenchers  and the opposition. Each and every policy or measure announced in the budget has now to be negotiated with the opposition and the senate crossbenchers.
What has really changed is that voters showed their disapproval for mainstream parties like Liberal and Labour and turned to smaller parties like Pauline Hanson and Nick Xenophon. What has really changed is that most people in Australia disapproved the way Labor and Liberal are giving in to Muslims. They are afraid to talk openly against Islam and the Islamists and are embedded in political correctness. Such a pathetic and weak stance from the major parties have turned voters to far right wing and populists parties. When Malcolm Turnbull invited the Muslims for dinner at the lodge, among them were some radicals who have spoken against our democracy, the right of women , gays and lesbians. On that night, which was before the elections, in trying to attract Muslim votes, the Coalition lost 600,000 votes in Queensland and many more in other states. A poll released this week showed that 49 percent of Australians want a ban on Muslim immigration. This proves that what Pauline Hanson has been advocating during the elections has found resonance with the Australians.
On the economic front, since the Liberals came to power, the deficit has increased. The rating agencies have warned that if there is no serious repairs to the budget bottom line Australia risks to lose its AAA credit rating. This has sent the alarm bell to our leaders and politicians as right now we a paying close a  billion dollars in interest payment. If we lose our AAA rating the cost of borrowing will be much higher. So where are the reforms? Where are the repairs to the budget and strategy to reduce the deficit ? Where will the savings coming from and where will the revenues coming from? Your guess is as good as mine if you follow closely the political narratives.
The price of commodities like iron ore are stumbling and our current account deficit increasing. Where is the path to a new economic future, the economic revolution of Mr Turnbull ? The innovative and technological economic challenge that we will overcome ? It's all talk and no action. It is all about the blame game, excuses, procrastinations, reviews etc... It is all politics and political games.

Mr Turnbull, you have not turned the economic bull around you are rather turning in circle. When will you start governing ?

Why voters turning away from the major parties

We are now only some days away from the election date and according to the latest polls, some 15% of voters are turning their backs on the major parties and will vote for smaller parties or independents. What has happened and why such a relatively high percentage of disenchanted voters ?
To understand that psychology let us turn back the clock some years.

The Australian Labor Party (ALP) was in the 50s and 60s,  a rather radical left wing  party  fighting for the working class and the workers but since since the 80s when  Hawke and Keating came to power they undertook major reforms, The ALP was then more of a center left party. In 2007 when Kevin Rudd  (Kevin07) won an overwhelming victory over, the used by date Liberal, John Howard, the ALP, the party moved to the center, embracing a social democracy ideology. It was not a bad thing to open up the middle class as the latter are also victim of the liberal ideology of looking only only after their mates of the upper class. The new ALP also favoured free enterprise and recognised that the private sector is the motor of the economic growth  and creation of jobs. Unfortunately the problem of the ALP started in 2007 when Kevin Rudd became arrogant and out of touch so much so that the ALP deposed of him as a first term Prime Minister. From there started the quarrels and division inside the ALP. One of the faceless men who knifed Kevin Rudd was no other than Bill Shorten, who is now the leader of the ALP, the man who wants to be PM. Julia Gillard, the first female PM of Australia, was  a catastrophe when she went in bed with the extreme left wing, The Greens and legislated a carbon tax. She did not last long as she was again knifed by the same Bill Shorten to be replaced by the recycled Kevin Rudd. Obviously the ALP suffered a sever defeat at the 2013 elections. They were voted out or kicked in the backside.

The Liberal/ National coalition came to power in 2013, by default, led by the controversial and conservative right winger Tony Abbott. The new government immediately shown their colours in the 2014 budget when, in the name of reforms, they smashed the working class, the middle class,  the families, the pensioners, the students, the unemployed  while giving tax cut to big business and big polluters. Since then things went so wrong for the new government that Tony Abbott (Mikey Mouse) and his fat treasurer Joe Hockey (Donald Duck) were sacked. The, so called progressive Liberal leader, billionaire Malcolm Turnbull was installed in the PM's chair. The nation expressed   a big sigh of relief. But  for seven months Mr Turnbull turned around, talked about increasing the GST, the state  tax, marriage equality, climate change, the need for renewable energy, did the talk without doing the walk , seven months as PM he did virtually NOTHING.

With this as the backdrop how do you want voters to trust someone who knifed two sitting  prime ministers and and another one  who knifed his first term and Liberal colleague PM ?? How can you trust these two men to be the guardians of the Constitution and the future of the nation ??  If you have watched the  4 corners program you will understand how Bill Shorten mutinously calculated and planned ,when he was at  the ACTU, to be PM one day. It was  not without walking on dead bodies or if you prefer "ambition demesuree" as the French will put it. No strange how he used the tactics  or strategy to depose two PMs  (Kevin and Julia) as he wanted to be caliph a la place du caliph !!!

How do you want voters to trust the billionaire Malcolm Turnbull to look after the interest of the poor and the vulnerable ? He is a successful businessman, a merchant banker. He is rich and money for him is not a problem. His problem is that he wants power and recognition. He wants to be the caliph and the world to respect him as the head of the Australian government. He wants to rule the country as a business, Malcolm Inc. His first move was to give big tax cut to his mates of the big business. The respected journalist, Paul Kelly, rightly said on Sky News that Malcolm is  not a politician , he is not driven by ideology, he is a business man.  Mind you, government comes and go but business continues to prosper. The banks continue to make billions dollars profit  while the poors get poorer .

Now do you find it  strange that voters are not listening to those who pretend to be our leaders and spitting on the ones who ambition to be our Prime Ministers ?

You might think that I missed the Greens  but if yo think that the Greens  are worth talking about, I am sorry as I think they are but dreamers. They do not deserve any attention.

We are now in the third week of the campaign and few more weeks to go till the 2nd of July. Many promises have been made from both sides of politics. While the government is campaigning on Growth and Jobs, the opposition, the Australian Labor Party (ALP), is more focused on social issues like Education and Health. So far, and according to the polls, the ALP is doing better. The second polls released since the beginning of the campaign put ALP in front. According to the Morgan Research released yesterday, if an election was held today, the ALP would win 85 seats in parliament and governing in their own right without the support of the Greens or independents.
Despite the polls giving Labor in front, I am not convinced at this stage that the ALP will win the forthcoming elections. I explain:
1.Votes will not forget the chaos which prevailed during the Rudd-Gillard years. They are not yet convinced that the ALP is starting afresh and that they will not repeat the gaffes of the years they were in command. The greatest gaffe was the disunity and the inner quarellings.
2. The other big gaffe of the ALP was their policy on the asylum seekers and refugees. During the time the ALP was in power, they reversed the Temporary Protection Visa and boatloads of illegal asylum seekers invaded our shores. The people smugglers trade flourished under the ALP years as they knew that the ALP is soft on the issue and that they cannot and will not stop the boats. Furthermore this trade saw the death of some one hundred  people when some boats sank.
The opposition, led by the controversial Tony Abbott, won the elections particularly on that issue.
3. The ALP instead of learning the  lesson, and even though they have voted in the party convention to stop the boats, divisions have emerged during the campaign that they are not united on stopping the boats. The biggest blunder came from Anthony Albanese, a front bench of the ALP, who cannot say whether he will sent the illegal refugees back and stop the boats. His biggest blunder was to say that they will send the refugees to be processed in Canada. This means that the boats can come and they will send them to Canada. This is music to the ears of people smugglers and the illegals including those economic "refugees" who are taking advantage to get into Australia by the backdoor.
4. Besides Albo, there are apparently 20 other candidates of the ALP who do not support the policy of stopping the boats. It is now perceived that once in power the ALP will be soft on border protection and the boats will start coming back.
5. On the economic front the ALP has trouble to define how they will stimulate the economy and create jobs. It is right to spend more on health and education and other popular social policies but for that the government needs money. There are two ways of raising money, either to make savings in the budget or to raise taxes. Until now the ALP has not convinced the voters where the money will come from and how they will fund all their promises.
6. Australia is going through a tough time with the end of the mining boom and low commodity prices. The budget has reached $39 billion deficit, we are still borrowing and paying debts with interest, and there is no signs of big economic recovery whether locally and on the world stage.
7. Bill Shorten is still not a popular figure even though he is campaigning hard and people starting to know him. He has however done well in the first debate and another one coming soon. Nevertheless  he does not have the charisma  of a great leader and there is doubt whether he can be a good and great Prime Minister.

In view of the points raised above, I am quite skeptical that Bill Shorten will be our next PM. But I can be wrong as the government is not doing well neither and if the voters can ignore these weaknesses of the ALP and be more convinced by their strong social policies then there is a chance for the ALP to come back.
